Former Cardiff and Dragons fly-half Jason Tovey has signed for Welsh club side Ynysddu.

The Caerphilly club finished top of the Division Two East last season, winning all eight of their matches, and are looking to go one better next season by bolstering the ranks with superstar signing Tovey.

Tovey, 33, who most recently played for Cardiff Rugby, announced he would retire at the end of the campaign and will now take up a position as player/coach with Ynysddu.

They wrote on their Facebook page: The club are happy to officially announce that former Dragons, Blues and Edinburgh outside half Jason Tovey will be signing for the DDs.

Having spent the last year or so helping out with coaching and recently announcing his retirement from professional rugby. Tovey has opted to double up and act as player/coach at Ynysddu.

Jason will bring a high level of experience and knowledge to our back line and we as a club are very excited to see what could happen in the coming season.

Cardiff Rugby tweeted: @jtov10 keeps on going! We cant wait to see you in action for @YnysdduRugby! Pob lwc and diolch Jason!

Tovey had two stints with Cardiff, three with the Dragons and a stint up in Scotland with Edinburgh. Tovey has previously played for Newport RFC, Bedwas and Cross Keys at amateur level.

All Blacks star fly-half Richie Mounga has revealed his plans to leave New Zealand following the conclusion of next years Rugby World Cup.

The 28-year-old has signed a one-year contract extension with the NZRU, that will keep him tied down until the conclusion of the 2023 global gathering.

And he has now made it apparent that he plans to look overseas when his contract is up.

Thats definitely what Im thinking,Mounga told the New Zealand Herald. Another reason for the one-year sign on with NZ Rugby was allowing myself to have a look at opportunities overseas and seeing what somewhere like Japan has to offer and keeping my options open, whether thats one or two seasons over there, and possibly coming back to New Zealand and hopefully play for the Crusaders and All Blacks.

I want to experience another culture with my family. Taking my wife and kids to Japan would be awesome to experience something different and another style of rugby.

Back-rower Alex Everett has linked up with Championship club Cornish Pirates, signing a one-year contract with the Cornwall outfit.

The 25-year-old flanker joins the Pirates from Cardiff RFC, having previously played for Newport and Cardiff University.

Everett, who is a recruitment consultant, also featured in Cardiffs clash with Toulouse in the Champions Cup after the Arms Park side were left without 32 players, who were forced to quarantine in either London or Cape Town following the troubled trip to South Africa back in December.

Everett came off the bench to make his one and only appearance for Dai Youngs side against the French side. However it is with Cardiff RFC where he has forged his reputation and Pirates coach Louie Tonkin is looking forward to working with him.

Alex is a hugely physical man, a real handful with a good pedigree, who is just the sort of backrow player we are looking for, Tonkin said.

Very physical both sides of the ball, he has gained real experience with Cardiff RFC, played for Cardiff Rugby. And being ambitious is keen to take his opportunity in the Championship and to push on.
